A Week in June; The Untold Story of Iran's 2009 Election


In the 2009 presidential elections in Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was officially declared the winner, elected to serve for a second term. However supporters of his two main rivals in the race, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, rejected the results, alleging vote rigging and widespread fraud. The huge street protests that followed were brutally crushed by the authorities, resulting in deaths and numerous arrests. Both Mousavi and Karroubi have been under house arrest ever since.

This film tells the story of the eventful week in June 2009 which saw the biggest political protests in Iran since the Islamic Revolution over 30 years ago.
